Il Giardino Ristorante

It is officially Spring. Which means people are heading back to the Oceanfront. It felt good to be there this weekend and it was hard to believe that my lawn was covered in snow just nineteen days earlier.

My trip to the Oceanfront was specifically intended to visit one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. Il Giardino Ristorante is located at 19th Street and Atlantic and it is undeniably one of my favorite places to eat. I called for reservations the day before and was told that the only thing they had available was 4:30 pm and after 8:30 pm. I grabbed the 4:30 ... this place is extremely popular and I would not suggest strolling in there without a reservation.

Everyone at Il Giardino is courteous and friendly. From the valet to the hostess to the servers, everyone is properly trained in customer service. We were seated immediately and since it was such a beautfiul day we were happy to sit outside under the covered seating area on Atlantic Avenue. We were able to enjoy cocktails as we leisurely browsed the menu and enjoyed the sights.

The menu has many options including several pasta dishes, chicken, veal or fish. As well as a variety of different pizzas from their wood burning oven. I chose to have the pizza primavera

The thin crust pizza was served with tomato sauce and fresh vegetables and it was the perfect size for one person. I added a touch of grated parmesan and red pepper flakes for a little bit of a kick and it was just fabulous.

Il Giardino also boasts one of the better wine lists that I've seen in Virginia Beach.
The restaurant offers valet parking which is always a plus when heading to the Oceanfront.
The combination of good service, good food and a beautiful atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience.
